Just like her husband, Carlos, Vera’s daughter, Shane, has also contributed to her column. In this post, I share three articles Shane wrote that highlight some of her amazing adventures.

Climbing Into the 22nd Century
A self-proclaimed, salty old lady, Shane shares some of the changes she found in the sport of climbing when she returns to it after more than a 25-year hiatus.
“I don’t love all the changes, but I know without a doubt, the sport of climbing is improving in more ways than one.”
In “二十二世纪的攀岩” Shane shares how much climbing has advanced over the past 20 years after she joins a group of about 20 strangers on a climbing trip.

When Shane’s daughter, Mia, shows interest in rock climbing, she jumps at the chance to introduce her to the sport.
“My reward came from seeing Mia realize she could do this. When your kid feels accomplished, you feel accomplished.”

“追踪象拔蚌” takes us along on an exciting adventure during the pandemic as Shane and her family take a road trip to Olympic National Park in search of the geoduck clam.
